After a short, but successful, hobby career in video games, he joined the independent advertising agency Slingshot while still in college at the University of Texas at Dallas earning a B.S. in Computer Science. While at Slingshot, he worked on high-profile projects for Jack Daniels, Finlandia Vodka, Dr Pepper/7 Up, Mission Tortillas, Dave & Busters, and others. Tom worked his way up to become the primary liaison between the creative and interactive departments, and the main technology advocate during a project’s concept phase.
He left Slingshot to join the small web development firm of TargetScope, where he worked on cutting-edge projects for Falcon NW Computing and the National Breast Cancer Foundation among others. After TargetScope, he started his own technology/consulting firm, Richardson Works, doing Web development and custom local real estate software. He closed the doors on this for a great opportunity to do world-class work with Branded News. At AM, Tom has worked with; National Rifle Association, Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, Bickel & Brewer, OklaVision, FAA and Taco Mayo.
Since working at AM, he has learned AM understands technology. “They understand that it isn’t just a nuisance or an inconvenience that will go away if you glare at it hard enough,” Tom says. AM has fully embraced a design and development methodology like a true software firm, while applying decades of marketing know-how and advertising industry experience. It’s the only “old school” shop I've ever seen truly embrace “new school.”
Outside of work, he enjoys Ultimate Frisbee, reading books, technology and spending time with family. Tom is also an active member of the Dallas Ultimate Association, and currently runs multiple sports leagues in the Dallas area, including Dallas Winter League – a 600-person coed Ultimate Frisbee league that runs on Saturdays between December and March at the Las Colinas Polo Fields.
